I am incredibly excited to be coming home. I am a 2005 graduate of Bowdon High School and was in the first ever 8th grade class at Jonesville Middle. I have spent the last 14 years teaching high school Spanish of varying levels. I have focused on improving literacy and proficiency skills in my students’ second language, and now I get to continue to do the same in their first. I believe school and learning should be exciting and it’s up to us to create a place where students want to be.
I graduated from The University of Georgia and love any-and-everything UGA, but especially football. I have a wonderful husband, Lanny Smith, who is also involved in the Bowdon community andtwo children, Greyson and Emery Kate, who attend BES. We alsohave two fur children, Daisy, and Kirby Smart.
When I’m not at school, I love to travel the world, read,cook, decorate, and watch sports. I also love to be creativeand make new things. I so look forward to being aBowdon Red Devil again!
Media Center Policy
The Media Center is open to students from 7:45 a.m. to 3:25 p.m. each day.
Students may check out one book per day
Students may keep the books for 2 weeks before returning or renewing them
At the end of the two weeks, students have a one week grace period before they start accruing a fine. Fines are 10 cents a day and cap at $3.00.
Students may not check out if they have an overdue book or owe a fine.

Accelerated Reader
AR Requirements
Students in all grade levels are required to earn a minimum of 15 AR points each nine weeks.
AR Incentives
Students must earn the minimum 15 points each nine weeks and have a passing percentage of at least 80% will get to participate in a grade level reward.
Students who earn 30 points each nine weeks and have a passing percentage of at least 80% will get to go on a Mystery Field Trip.
AR Rules
Tests may be taken at school from 8:05 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
No student will take an AR test for another student.
No student will give another student answers to an AR test.
No student will allow another student to view his/her answers as he/she takes an AR test.
AR Incentives
If a student cheats or allows another student to cheat, ALL students involved with the cheating will lost the points from the tests involved, and will receive a discipline memo.
Students who are caught cheating will not be allowed to participate in the grade level rewards or go on the Mystery Field trip.

Renaissance Home Connect is easy to use. It allows you to monitor your child's progress in Accelerated Reader. You can even sign up for email alerts!
To log in, use your child's Renaissance Place login information. Your child or teacher can give you that information.

Accelerated Reader Bookfinder is a great tool to search for books with AR quizzes. You can search for books based on authors, topics, or titles.
